The Lincoln County Historical Association is currently working with the Textile Heritage Center in Cooleemee, North Carolina to document the lives of those who grew up in or on one of the hundreds of southern cotton mills or mill towns. Many, if not all, of the first and second generation cotton mill pioneers are no longer around to tell us their stories, so it is imperative that we document the lives of those who remain with us.

The survey is twenty-three pages in length and should bring back many memories. Completed surveys will be placed in the archives of the Lincoln County Museum of History and the Textile Heritage Center and, with your written permission, will be made available to scholars and the general public. Both organizations will compile the survey results in a searchable digital database.

Remember, you and your family are part of history, and we encourage you to make a copy of the completed survey for your family.

You can print, fill out, and return the survey to:

Lincolnton, NC 28092

Email the LCHA at lcmh@bellsouth.net or contact Jason L. Harpe at (704) 748-9090 if you are interested in receiving a copy of the survey as a Word document.

If you did not grow up or live in a mill village,
please give this form to someone you know who did.
