A New Beginning In April 1952 the Newbold High School Class of 1952 became the last graduating class of Oaklawn High School and the first graduating class of Newbold High School.  Not only was the group embarking on a new course in they young lives, but they set a new course for Lincolnton’s African-American community.  Members of the graduating class of 1952 are identified, from left to right, as follows: Gwendolyn Lewis, Haywood Killian, Sherman Davis, Frank Cobb, Ervin Reinhardt, Emma Hill, Jane Beam, Hugh Herndon, Hattie Cobb, and Erma True Lewis.
