Mary “Mamie” Wilfong Phifer (1856-1936)
Mary “Mamie” Wilfong Phifer was the only daughter of Col. John Fulenwider Phifer and Elizabeth Ramsour Phifer of Lincolnton.  Remembered in many writings as a “beautiful and charming young women, loved by all who knew her”, Mamie married Stephen Smith of Livingston, Alabama in 1880.  She died on February 3, 1936, at the home of her son, Phifer Smith, in Mentone, Alabama.  She is buried in Livingston, Alabama.
